Science meets Seasonal Spirit! 🎄🧪 Our Year 10 and 11 scientists have brought a festive glow to the lab with our very own "Chemistree"! Over three weeks of lunchtime sessions, students collaborated to model atoms, molecules, and metallic structures using everything from pipe cleaners to polystyrene. The finishing touches? Stunning glassware ornaments filled with vibrant, colorful transition-metal solutions. We are so proud of their creativity, commitment, and the infectious energy they brought to the department. The Student Parliament Charities Committee chose @spearlondon87 as our charity partner. Why? They developed their own political parties, complete with compelling slogans and detailed manifestos on issues they care about. The challenge culminated in a final presentation, where they had to sell their vision to the class. We saw incredible critical thinking, persuasive speaking, and teamwork in action. 📸 Sociology Inspiration! Our Year 12 Sociology students recently had an amazing day at the Sociology Conference! 🤩 The highlight? Hearing directly from the incredible, pioneering feminist sociologist, Ann Oakley! Professor Oakley's work is foundational: Gender into Discourse: She was key in introducing the crucial concept of gender into academic study. The Sociology of Housework: Her research revealed the invisible, unpaid labor of domestic life, profoundly changing how we view inequality in the home.
