PIXL Edge Co-ordinator – Mr C Dyer (Assistant Head Teacher)
Christ’s School offers all students in Years 7 through 9 the opportunity to complete the PIXL Edge award which is a certified award focusing on key attributes that all students will need when entering higher education or the workplace. These attributes are:
The main aim of the Edge programme is to produce students who are self-assured and confident young people who have received a quality and well-rounded education. At Christ’s School we have the same educational values, and allowing students to participate in this programme ensures they have the relevant skill sets for when they leave Christ’s School.
Each student receives a workbook, tutor-based sessions and access to the online portal to enable them to complete the programme. Tutors and Key Stage Leaders are available to support all students in their pursuit to achieve the certification. There are 3 levels at the secondary stage, Apprentice, Graduate and Master. Every student is expected to achieve a minimum of the Apprentice stage, with most students achieving Graduate or Master across the 3-year programme.
Students complete a series of self-selected tasks to provide evidence that they have acquired/improved their skill set in the five attributes known as the LORIC. Students complete a reflective journal citing what they have done and how it has improved them at the selected attribute. They then submit it for approval by their Tutor. Once 10 activities have been approved, they have passed the course and receive their certificate in an assembly or at Westminster Central Hall.
Students can access the PIXL Edge portal here with their personal login and password.
