Day 2 at CERN did not disappoint! 🚀✨
Our tour guide was a brilliant engineer who spent 38 years designing particle accelerators at CERN. Safe to say, our students kept him busy with an endless stream of questions! 🧠💬
Highlights from today:
The Antimatter Factory: We got up close with ELENA (Extra Low Energy Antiproton Ring), a fully functional particle decelerator. Yes, antimatter is real, and it’s mind-blowing. 🤯
The Data Centre: We stood in the birthplace of the World Wide Web! The students loved learning how it was originally created right here at CERN to help global scientists share data. 🌐
A Timeless Afternoon: After a quick refuel at the Big Bang Café, we shifted gears from physics to horology at the Patek Philippe Museum, checking out their incredible new "50 Years of Nautilus Watches" exhibition. ⏱️
An absolutely unforgettable day of science, history, and culture.
