Choral and Orchestra Concert - Tickets Now On Sale

Christ’s School is hosting its third biennial choral and orchestral concert on Saturday 8 July at 19:30 at St. John the Divine Church in Richmond.  The centrepiece of the concert will be a performance, with full orchestra, of Fauré’s Requiem.

Christ's School community can purchase tickets online through Scopay for £12 each and £6 for concessions. If you would like to purchase a large number of tickets, please contact Mr Wilson for a further discount.

Members of the public can purchase tickets from the School by calling 020 8940 6982 or can be reserved by emailing Philip Wilson, Director of Music. Tickets can also be purchased at the door subject to availability.

Our first choral and orchestral concert, back in 2013, featured Vivaldi’s Gloria, and coincided with the school’s tercentenary.  Two years later, in 2015, the performance was of Sir Karl Jenkins’ Adiemus, Songs of Sanctuary, which led directly to Christ’s Choir being invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York in January 2016 in the presence of the composer.

This year we are building on this success by performing one of the most beautiful and well-known of all choral works, Fauré’s Requiem. We are proud that the concert will include concerto movements by our most advanced young musicians accompanied by an orchestra of young aspiring professional musicians (and some of our own students)  – a unique and rare opportunity. The school’s dectet will also be performing music by the Spanish composer Albéniz.   The full programme for the evening is as follows:

Mozart                          Concerto in G for flute and orchestra 1st movement
Hoffmeister                   Concerto in D for viola and orchestra 3rd movement
Bonfá                            Manha de Carnaval for choir, strings, harp and cor anglais (arr. Philip Wilson)
Albéniz                          Cantos de Espana: 1) Prelude 2) Cordoba – performance by Christ’s dectet
Haydn                           Concerto in G for violin and orchestra 1st movement
Fauré                            Requiem.  Christ’s Choir, orchestra and soloists.

If you have any enquiries about the concert or music at Christ’s School please contact Mr Wilson.
