Eco-Group

The Christ's Eco-Group was set up in the summer term 2018/19.

The aim of the group is primarily to make the school a more environmentally-friendly place, but also to provide a positive means for students to channel their enthusiasm for tackling climate change, and to help alleviate eco-anxiety.The group has now more than 25 members from across all year groups and is constantly growing.

We are working towards achieving Green Flag status for the school within the globally recognised Eco-Schools programme which provides a framework for schools to work towards improving their eco-credentials. The initiative is very much student-led with the assistance of the school's Eco-Coordinator, Mrs Heather, and not only does it offer students the chance to have a direct impact on how the school operates in areas such as waste disposal, food provision and energy usage but it also gives them the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in areas such as leadership, project management and communications.

The group recently had the opportunity to present our story to date to the whole school in Collective Worship. Please click here to view our presentation.

To join the Eco-Group, please check the Eco-Group noticeboard in the main corridor for details of when the next meeting is (we usually meet on Fridays during PD time in C20). The year group representatives are also listed on the noticeboard so you can speak to one of them, or you can speak to Mrs Heather whose office is in the Sixth Form or email her at jheather@christs.school.
