Appeals

If your child has been refused a place at your preferred secondary school, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority. Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel.

Appeals resulting from applications for admission to Year 7 for September 2020 will be heard according to the following timetable:

All appeals received by 20th April 2020 will be heard on weekdays between 18th May 2020 and 22nd June 2020.

(excluding half term week - 25th May to 29th May 2020 inclusive)

Dates when appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing

 30th April 2020 to 5th June 2020

Date by which the Clerk sends appeal papers to the parents, the panel and the admission authority

5th May 2020 to 10th June 2020

Deadline for appellants to submit additional evidence

8.00am 5 working days before the appeal hearing.

Decision letters sent to the appellants.  

Within 5 school days of the appeal decision (whenever possible)

Appeals lodged after 20th April 2020 will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being received, whichever is the later date.
